You know what is really pissing me off? My knee. I know what you are thinking right now ... oh Whale Cancer! Are you okay? ... and I'm fine, don't even sweat it any.
Ok, in all honesty you are more likely thinking, if you are still able to walk you better not be complaining. I understand fully. I agree. But I can still rant at my dumbass knee. It's my hot blog, I do what I want.
So my knee has basically been at "ok" level since junior year in high school. In tennis ... the most gangster of all country club sports (ahem, excuse me, "gangsta"... I twisted my knee and had to wear a hot hot knee brace. I was told to get an MRI, but never did. I'm so tough. The season ended, I took off the knee brace and never looked back.
Ok, so I look back a lot on that and think ... how dumb am I? Since then my knee has just been "ok". It never really bothered me, but throughout college it never completely felt great. Whether it was a touch stiff or achey or whatever. It just didn't feel normal. Normal enough though.
Then one day I dove while playing frisbee (or as the hardcores would say "Ultimate")... and my knee slammed on the ground. I caught the disc (duh, like there was as doubt). My knee slammed on the ground. I was rewarded for my amazing athletics with a tennis ball sized swelling on my knee.
This time I went to the doctor. He said I had a bone bruise and possible cartilage tearing/damage. Said I should come back if I was still having problems in a month or so. I never saw that man again.
You see... I started paying for my own insurance two months later when I graduated. Therefore I couldn't really afford to go get it checked out if my knee was still ok. Which it was. It was ok. Other than slight stiffness and a noticeable lack of explosiveness. Oh .. and every time it hits the ground it swells up and gets sore. You know. The norm.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago. Training for a marathon. Knee is doing ok still. I play some frisbee. Knee hits the ground. Knee is now very sore. Sometimes when I shower, I like to lay down in the tub instead of stand. Especially when my knee hurts. I tried to do this and my knee locked and made me accelerate towards the ground faster than I would like. Twice.
And here I stand now. Angry at my knee. Staying away from any and all athletics for two weeks to try to heal it up. Canceling my marathon (tear). And if it is not feeling great at the end of rest time, I am going back to the doctor and maybe finally getting that MRI. 7 years too late.
Ok, pity party over. Bored? Go back and count the grammatical mistakes. I'm won't. I'm going to bed.
