You come from Georgia, where the peaches grow. They drink lemonade and speak real slow.

I am getting sick of this song ... I will probably switch it out soon.

From the time I graduated college (May 2007) until this August when I started school again I read seventy-seven books. I love to read. I plan on using my only weekend off all semester to read "Once a Runner" by John L. Parker, Jr. Anyway, here are the top 20 books I read in no particular order during my time out of school (I could fill this list up with Kurt Vonnegut, but I will only pick my favorite from any author of which I read more than one title):

Brief Encounters with Che Guevara: Stories by Ben Fountain -- great set of short stories
A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole -- one of the best characters every written, hilarious
Bowerman and the Men of Oregon by Kenny Moore -- must read for any runner
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams -- hilarious, wonderful especially fans of British humor
Creation by Gore Vidal -- very dense, only read if you enjoy Greek and Persian history
I Am Legend by Richard Matheson -- amazing short story, much better than movie
I, Lucifer by Glen Duncan -- very particular taste, do not read if easily offended regarding religion
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini -- terrific story, better than Kite Runner
Atonement by Ian McEwan -- did not think I would like it and ended up loving
The Coma by Alex Garland -- very unique and interesting story
The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Neffenegger -- wonderfully written and great story
Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut -- a masterpiece
The Contortionist's Handbook by Craig Clevenger -- great detail and plot
The Fuck-Up by Arthur Nersesian -- great top of the head writing
The Man in the High Castle by Philip K Dick -- alternate history about if WWII went the other way
An Incomplete and Inaccurate History of Sport: . . . and Other Random Thoughts from Childhood to Fatherhood by Kenny Mayne -- hilarious and heart warming
Zorba the Greek by Nikos Kazantzakis -- another great character by an amazing, amazing writer
Villa Incognito by Tom Robbins -- I absolutely fell in love with this book
Bring the Jubilee by Ward Miller -- alternate history regarding the Civil War, very good
The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe -- how LSD and the hippy movement got started, great read about a unique time and people and how it all started and got out of control

Timely post. Daddy needs a new book.

I can't wait to tell people I think highly of that I'm reading The Fuck Up. Take me seriously, world.
