If you type the term "Chris Paul punch" into Google Search the first two things that pop up are videos. One video has Julius Hodge with Chris Paul, the other has Bruce Bowen. In each video Chris Paul is punching someone in the balls. That is correct. There are two instances in which Chris Paul has punched an opposing basketball player in the balls while on the court.
Now, I am as big of a fan of seeing someone get hit in the testicles as much as anyone. It is generally freaking hysterical unless you are the one doubled over in pain and nausea. If it wasn't funny, America's Funniest Home Videos would never have been a staple of American television. However, there is a difference between accidental ball hitting and intentional. There are other circumstances to take into account.
Which brings me to why I dislike Chris Paul. I acknowledge his incredible skill at playing the game of basketball. No one can doubt his abilities on the court, but that just makes his ball punching all the more infuriating. It isn't like he is Steve Blake and needs extra advantages. However, you must consider that basketball is his job. Therefore, he is running around and punching people in the junk while both parties are at work.
Imagine you are at a meeting, making a sales pitch. You finish your presentation, shake a few hands, and exit the board room. In the lobby is a competitor to your company getting ready to make their sales pitch. As you stroll towards the elevator a member of the other company comes up and punches you in the testicles. This person would probably be fired and arrested.
Chris Paul gets called scrappy. Well he isn't scrappy. He is a dirty player, a jackass, and someone I can never, ever cheer for in my life. So fawn over Chris Paul as much as you want. You are simply celebrating broken testicles. That is something I will never celebrate.
