I'd sell my soul for a doughnut

The person of the week this week is actually a group of people. Sophomore year in college a friend and I discussed possible food items that would be the worst things to eat before you ran. Eventually we landed on 12 Kripsy Kreme doughnuts... in the middle of a run. We had planned 3 miles before and 3 miles after.

What started as a really stupid idea has turned into a ridiculously huge event. It raised somewhere near $20,000 last year and this year it is being covered by ESPN. Naturally I cannot make it down there to be interviewed for SportsCenter.

I am not calling myself the person of the week. All I did was come up with a stupid idea. A group of my classmates turned that idea into a large fundraiser and growing tradition at NCSU. They deserve all credit for making the event what it is today. Thanks guys.

The Krispy Kreme Challenge is today at 9:30. 5038 individuals have registered. At 16 dollars a runner/eater or ten dollars for a supporter. That is a gain of between $80,608-50,038 before you take out costs. I am going out on a limb and saying the NC Children's Hospital is going to be happy. Way to go KKC 2009 Team.
