The person of the week this week is René Magritte. My favorite art form is surrealism. I say that not because I can define surrealism, tell you many artists who choose that style, or anything of the sort. I say that because my favorite painter is Salvador Dalí and my second favorite is René Magritte.
Magritte is an artist I honestly did not know their name too long ago. However, when I clicked on his gallery, it contained a number of paintings I had seen before and liked. And I don't know many paintings. Needless to say, I like him a lot.
Magritte has a sense of humor in his paintings that is clear to anyone. They aren't comic, but they give the sensation of a wry smile. A subtle chuckle that doesn't distract you from the painting, but rather adds another layer on the depth of thought that his artwork provokes.
As a bonus here are my top 5 painters:
1. Salvador Dalí
2. René Magritte
3. Pablo Picasso
4. Claude Monet
5. Max Ernst
Further bonus, my 5 favorite paintings of all-time:
1. Guernica by Pablo Picasso
2. The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh
3. Raphaelesque Head Exploding by Salvador Dalí
4. Le Bain de Cristal by René Magritte
5. A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges-Pierre Seurat

Some original favorite paintings you have there. I had never seen the giraffe in the glass before.
