Hittin the Links

The quote of the week this week is by Gustave Flaubert, a 19th century French writer. I took it from the Facebook profile of a friend. It is:

"I'm no more modern than ancient, no more French than Chinese, and the idea of a native country - that is to say, the imperative to live on one bit of ground marked red or blue on the map and to hate other bits in green or black - has always seemed to me narrow-minded, blinkered and profoundly stupid. I am a soul brother to everything that lives, to the giraffe and to the crocodile as much as to man."

To think someone said this in the 19th century, a time of much nationalism, chest thumping, and colony plundering makes it more astonishing.

The link of the week this week is Card Chronicle. A grade school and high school classmate writes this blog about University of Louisville sports. If you care not about UL, it is still well written and charming, even funny at times. I tend to not care about college sports, but I still enjoy the blog immensely. A very talented writer.

The game of the week this week is The Black Knight. Not the black night from Monty Python's Holy Grail or Will Ferrell's voice in Family Guy (hey what is YOUR fat ass doing here?). This fat bastard waddles around and smashes shit. It is strangely fun and enjoyable.

The picture of the week this week was taken by myself in the Columbia, Missouri airport:

The video of the week this week is Charlie The Unicorn. There is a sequel and it is amazing as well. So you get a double dose. Lucky bastards.
