Lately I have desperately pondered. Spent my nights awake and I wonder.

I really love humor that is so dumb it is actually genius. The Sarah Silverman program comes to mind. There is something so simple and amazing about this humor that just kills me.

What makes it best is that people can do one of three things with this brand of humor. They can just laugh at it because of the stupidity and third grade level of humor. They can think about the humor quickly and think to themselves ... this is just stupid. Or ... if you pay close enough attention you can find the parody, the craft, and the skill it took to be that dumb and yet still come off as innocent and funny. It really is not easy for an adult to accomplish. You have to give the character of the joke or premise an innocence that is believable and humorous on its own and just add the stupidity on top as a syrup to the sundae.

That is not to say this is done well a lot. It rarely is. The Sarah Silverman program walks this line like a drunken baby. One episode it is perfect and the next it is like it did not try. Weaving across the humor line is not a good way to keep a television show.

One person who is amazing at this type of humor is Tracy Morgan. From the Brian Fellows character, to his ridiculousness in any interview, to this song he made for 30 Rock. On 30 Rock he basically plays himself and this song was mentioned and featured for 7 seconds on an episode. Of course the whole song is downloadable on NBC's website (I refuse to link NBC because they suck) and someone made a full video of it. Just listen to this genius. It is like a 7 year old wrote it except for some quality that just makes it awesome. I love Tracy Morgan.
