I was driving some friends to an ultimate tournament in Atlanta, GA. This was the first time. Not the time I drove 5 girls from Charlotte to the same tournament the next year -- well the club version not the college. Whatever. This time was me and two guys. Not nearly as sexy I am sure. Though you have never seen Joseph.
We were going to a town right outside Atlanta called Cummings. Are you done giggling? Ok, thanks. Fairly close we had to stop for gas and some snacks. My friends asked if it was okay if they got Sparks. I had no idea what that was and said I didn't care what they bought. They got excited.
Evidently Sparks is not your everyday energy drink like I thought it was. In fact, it contains alcohol. Therefore they should not have been drinking them in the car. However, we had already convinced Joseph to order a strawberry swirl margarita that night at On the Border, so clearly the thought process on the evening was skewed. After they were already half gone I was informed of the illegalness of the activity in which we were partaking.
So we get to Cummings and miss our turn. I decide we need to turn around. I look all around me and cannot see any sort of vehicle. The others agree no one is coming anywhere near us. As I make the U-Turn (directing from road into a little of a parking lot) a car comes out of no where and tries to pass me on the left. I hear a "Oh god here comes a car!"
I slam on my breaks, the other guy breaks and steers around me. There is an ever so subtle hitting noise. I freeze. My car is now parked in the middle of a road, across lanes, nearly perpendicular to normal driving direction. The other car is stopped up ahead a little. Then ... the car just drove away.
I hopped out and checked my car. No damage. Then we went to the hotel where we could see a little bit of white paint on my bumper. I have no idea where the car came from or why they tried to pass me or why they just drove away afterward. However, I am very happy they did not hit me worse or want to file any sort of report.
