One Christmas my sister flew in from out of town and with a giggle handed me a "present". I looked befuddled as I turned the maroon clip-on tie with white diagonal stripes in my hands. It was too small for me and looked worn and used.
"I found this for you," she laughed.
Evidently she had been hassled by the security at the airport and opened her suitcase up to find this clip-on tie amongst her luggage. It was the tie of the airport security guard who had checked her baggage. We assume it fell off while he was searching her luggage item by item and he failed to notice. His loss was my gain.
It became my basketball tie, the tie I wore to every basketball game. It turned heads, oh yes. Even a four-time NBA Champion noticed my tie and tugged it off in a jealous rage. "Is this a clip-on?" he asked with lust. As it popped off in his hands a look of awe crossed his face. But this tie was not his. It was mine and I wore it with a smile.
Ok... so he was kind of angry at me for wearing it and ended up making fun of it every day. However, I was in on the joke and laughed along. What a ridiculous tie.
