The quote of the week is by Thomas Szasz, M.D. Besides having a ridiculously cool last name, he also said "Formerly, when religion was strong and science weak, men mistook magic for medicine; now, when science is strong and religion weak, men mistake medicine for magic." I like this quote because it ties together the ideas of magic and medicine, which is all so easy to do when the understanding of what is going on is not there. Knowing too much about the art of being a doctor you realize there is no magic, merely disease, drugs, probability and the humanity that deals with those parts. There is an art though.
The link of the week this week is a little late for the Holidays, but is from MSNBC and entitled "Visiting family wraps your brain, study says". Duh.
The game of the week this week is called Ninja or Nun. I mean, how many days do we ask ourselves that each day? I know I do at least 47 times.
The picture of the week was posted on an ESPN article and is evidently from an archive from Time Magazine. It is a State-State matchup in Reynold's Colliseum ... aka Cameron Indoor Stadium if Cameron Indoor Sstadium was awash in history and extended on each baseline/endzone.
And it is Michgan State visiting North Carolina State.
The video of the week this week is called "I Guess You'll Do". I think it describes the exact relationship I hope to never settle into. It is funny though. Unless you watch it and go "shit, that is me". In my most cynical this is how I view most marriages, except for the ending ... I don't want to ruin it, but there is an over 50% chance this ending wouldn't happen.
