Straddle the line in discord and rhyme. I'm on the hunt, I'm after you.

The person of the week this week is Myron Rolle. If you remember, I already talked about Mr. Rolle as a person of the week

The reason for this double dip and double praise for the most exemplary student-athlete of our generation is found in this "Report" by Sports Illustrated. Not only did Mr. Rolle win a Rhodes Scholarship, arriving late to a game in order to interview, but he is putting off the NFL and millions of dollars in order to study in Oxford for the year.

Let us put the Myrol Rolle lifeplan in quick bulleted format:
  • Become highly recruited high school football player while maintaining phenomenol gades. Bonus points for being named top athlete and #12 overall prospect in football recruiting class. He also was editor of the school newspaper, which is not a prototypical athlete thing to do.
  • Graduate from high school in December of your senior year in order to enter college early.
  • Enroll in college early to get a jump on football training and school.
  • Graduate from college in 2.5 years with a degree Exercise Science and completing all pre-medical requirements.
  • Play the most complete defensive game at FSU in the past 25 years according to your defensive coordinator.
  • Receive a masters in public administration at FSU while conituing college football career.
  • Win a Rhodes Scholarship.
  • Put of the NFL to study in Oxford to get a master's degree in Medical Anthropology.
  • Play in NFL.
  • Go to medical school.
  • Become a neurosurgeon.
  • Open a clinic in the Bahamas (he is of Bahamian heritage) for the needy.
That impressive lifeplan is complete until the last 4. He will definitely play in the NFL provided he doesn't get injured seriously. I don't doubt his medical school ambitions or even neurosurgeon desires. With the money he racks up playing in the NFL he will have the means and connections to get his clinic running if he so chooses.

In conclusion, I would like to work in his clinic when he gets it set up. I am not big on having heroes, especially of people younger than me, but Myron Rolle is damn close to a hero. He is an inspiration. I tip my hat to him.
