I would like to rave a little bit about a country named Portugal. Portugal did something recently that I think America should do ... decriminalized drugs.
Shockingly the world didn't end and people didn't all of a sudden start doing drugs. You know what did happen? Drug crime went down (duh), the number of people using hard drugs declined, and the people who were using drugs and continued to do so are safer. Even better, individuals that had been previously sent to jail were now offered therapy. Imagine that ... trying to help people instead of locking them away.
By making something illegal you do not protect innocent people from its dangers. All you do is make something that might be dangerous and make it hide in the shadows so it becomes even more dangerous.
Well done Portugal... America, you're up.
