Instant feedback. For many things it seems wonderful. For others it is the dumbest thing in the history of whatever it is you are getting the instant feedback.
For example: the NFL Draft.
There is no way to tell if a draft pick or a trade or a team's whole draft year is a bust the day after the draft. You have to wait years to see who panned out and who didn't. Who was a good fit for a team and who wasn't. It just baffles me that you can say a team did great before any of the players have had a practice, let alone a game, in the NFL.
And really, what is good instant feedback in our world these days? Popular culture? Have you seen popular culture? That is not good instant feedback.
The only time instant feedback ever really seems like a good thing is when it comes to cooking or editing a paper. And only editing for grammar and spelling, not for art. Any editing of art is horrendous if it changes what the artist wants.
In conclusion ... take a long-term approach to most things. It usually is a lot better. It always is more accurate.
