Pennsylvania ... what the hell?

Obviously I don't know the full story or all of the information provided in the case, but this case and acquittal has left me with a sick feeling in my stomach.

Regardless of the race issues and the guilt involved in starting the fight, I don't know how someone can be beaten to death, and kicked while on the ground, and the people who admit they were in the fight are only convicted of simple assault.

If I punched someone on the street that would be simple assault. If I punched someone who was attacking me that would be self-defense. If that person fell down, in either of those cases, and I proceeded to kick them in the head until part of their brain came out ... that is not simple assault. That is something much much worse.

This case disgusts me and I have no idea how that verdict could be reached in such a case. The fact that family and friends were so jubilant is also disgusting to me. I understand you are relieved your family/friends are not going to jail for a really long time, but someone died because of them ... admittedly. Show some restraint. I am sure you made the widow and fatherless children feel so much better.
