Leading by example.

Government finds ways to waste a ridiculous amount of money each year. In economic times such as this it would have been a slap in the face to the American people for the Obama's to do anything other than what they are doing.

I don't blame the previous administrations for using the money, especially in times of prosperity. I would think (well, hope) any administration would do the same thing in times like these. To do so would seem to be political suicide.

I know it is a thimble full of water in an ocean, but its symbolic gesture is strong and I am happy this is being done. $74,000 for plates is a pretty big price tag for china in the previous administration, but I can only assume that was bought in the first months of the presidency (which probably should have been clarified). Also I am sure the china remains as part of some exhibit that somehow may raise money. Whatever, this is no frills and cut the fat times in America and it includes our President.
